Vinted Users Share Displeasure Over Sizing Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.

This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with similar services.

The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.

It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
